Landmine Monitor is a civil society-based program providing research and monitoring on progress made in eliminating landmines, cluster munitions, and other explosive remnants of war.
Landmine Monitor is renowned for its independent and impartial monitoring and has become the de facto monitoring regime for the Mine Ban Treaty, a role it has begun to undertake for the Convention on Cluster Munitions. Landmine Monitor has gained respect for its work by going beyond the transparency reporting states must provide under disarmament treaties to provide independent reporting and evaluation for governments, international organizations, and civil society on progress made and remaining challenges in eliminating these victim-activated weapons.
